First the cocaine influencer went viral. Then came the death threats

Drug dealers, doxxing and a train station stabbing: has the Packet Connoisseur reached the end of the line?

Anyone who “takes out” the Packet Connoisseur gets £5,000. So read a comment under our Instagram post about our September story on the Scottish cocaine influencer. Whoever wrote it was willing to offer a would-be assassin a helping hand: the commenter provided the Packet Connoisseur’s full name and address.

This piece of information was disturbing and threatening, and was quickly deleted, possibly when the Packet Connoisseur’s Instagram account was banned by Meta. It also explains the reaction I receive when I turn up on the doorstep of a semi-detached house in a sleepy Ayrshire village, the smell of cow manure thick in the air. It’s a typical scene: post-war, pebbledash houses against a verdant backdrop of rolling pasture filled with cattle. There’s a ring doorbell staring back at me, and a security camera above my head. Whoever’s behind the door is safety conscious.

I brace myself before ringing the doorbell.

A small woman with pink hair and tattoos twisting around her right arm answers. She looks worried sick, scared even. Another thing is immediately clear: she bears an undeniable resemblance to the Packet Connoisseur.
