Easdales climb the rich list while backing an embattled Sarwar

Plus, footie fan fury and an update on Rogano

Dear readers — with Beth Templeton, our new reporter, starting today — we now have three weekend activity reports to bring you. The joys! We’re delighted to have Beth on board. Why not send her a welcome email and any story ideas? beth@glasgowbell.co.uk

Robbie was as on brand as ever over the weekend: al fresco wining and dining, a visit to the Barras’ Hong Kong market, ice creams in the sun, half pints on Glasgow Green; the usual. Calum, meanwhile, was enjoying some cask ales at the rebranded (read gentrified) Hyndland Rock. He also took a walk along the lush-looking Kelvin, which he thinks looks every bit like a temperate rainforest at this time of year. Beth was treated to a free tasting menu, and may have enjoyed a few buzzballs while watching the football.

Onto your briefing.

SOLD OUT. The response to our event on 4 June, which asks whether the city centre has escaped a perceived doom loop, has been amazing. Sorry if you’ve missed out on tickets but rest assured there will be more events to come.

Glasgow in Brief

🤑 The Sunday Times 2026 rich list has been released — and it appears, for the second year in a row, they haven’t read our memo that the Easdales may not in fact be the billionaires they purport to be. Either way, the McGill’s Buses owners have climbed Scotland’s rich list to number five and reportedly grown their wealth by £10m. The brothers entered the Scottish Rich List in 2022 and have “grown their wealth by around £45m since 2024”, reports the Greenock Telegraph. They dropped one place, however, in the UK list to 112th position.
