He squeezed in a bit of foraging before his ferry home. So full was his basket that he received a few quizzical looks as he got on the CalMac. One man asked for a picture of the haul, while another seemed interested in whether he’d found any “magic yins”. Calum lucked out with a tupperware full this morning (of the culinary variety, not psychoactive, before you ask).
Elsewhere, Calum, a washed-up musician, was practising the guitar for the first time in months preparing for a nerve-shredding performance at a friend’s wedding.

🏗️ Woodlands residents are calling for ‘restricted area status’ for purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) and houses of multiple occupancy (HMO) in their neighbourhood. The opposition to PBSAs has been sparked by the latest proposed development, a 7–10 storey block at the site of Q Club and PureGym on St George’s Road. The developer, Alumno, also has a 262-bed PBSA development under construction on the corner of St George’s Road and Grant Street, only 40 metres away. Over 100 people attended a public meeting last week alongside MSPs Iris Duane and Bob Doris. There have been over 130 objectors and 380 petitioners against the development, which would demolish Q Club, PureGym and the offices at St George’s Studios, although the facade of the building will be retained. Campaigners say that if permission is granted, the student population in the area will rise from 31% to 55%.
